My Healthy Hair Journey

After years of wearing extensions and giving up the creamy crack aka relaxer; I decided to start a healthy hair journey. I use to be a "hair salon chick". You know those chicks who are frequent hair salon goers. Until I realized that healthy hair growth doesn't come by making weekly visits to the hair salon; it happens by caring for your hair after you leave the beauty salon. I began my journey only about 2 months ago. Unfortunately, I didn't take photos of my beginning hair length; due to my busy life. However, I did take recent photos, which showcase about 3 inches of new healthy hair growth.
My short term goal is to reach bra strap length and my long term goal is to reach waist length.
I followed a serious hair regimen; that is very timely and sometimes costly. However, I realize now that the key to black hair is moisture. Below is my hair care regimen including products that I use.

My Hair Regimen 💇
I wash my hair once a week
I wear protective styles during the week, buns, ponytails, twist outs, braid-outs, Bantu knot outs

Pre-poo: I pre-poo before every wash with a mixture of coconut oil (melted & cooled), olive oil, & a cheapie conditioner like Suave Tropical Coconut Conditioner- I leave this on for 15 to 30 mins
~I do this to prepare my hair for the manipulation of the wash day process
~I don't do this if I am at a lost for time

Shampoo: I barely shampoo my hair due to the stripping of oil throughout the hair that shampoo causes. I only shampoo my hair when I'm going to straighten my hair.
I use the Tresemme Smooth & Silky Shampoo or if my hair is in need of moisture I shampoo my hair with Shea Moisture Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil Shampoo. I usually rinse out some of the pre-poo mixture and add the Tresemme Smooth & Silky Shampoo or the Shea Moisture Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil Shampoo.

Conditioner: Next I use the Roux Porosity Control- this product is my absolute favorite. It restores the PH balance in my hair and helps my hair to absorb water and moisture better.
~ I leave this product on for 15 to 30 mins

Protein Treatment: I do a light protein treatment weekly to restore my hair's health and to prevent damaged hair. I use Aphogee's 2 Minute Keratin Reconstructor. This product is gentle enough to use for my weekly washes. If you use a lot of heat on your hair, then a protein treatment is a must for your weekly washes. My hair feels strong after using this product.
~I leave on for 15 to 30 mins

Deep Conditioner: I do a deep conditioning treatment every week to increase the moisture balance in my hair. I use the Shea Moisture Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil Intensive Hydration Masque.
This deep conditioning treatment is the bomb! Your hair will be completely moisturized and smell amazing.
~I leave this product on for 30 mins to an hour

Leave In Conditioner: Since I love to flat iron my hair I use BBD Stretch Growth Creme and either let my hair dry or blow my hair out with it. If I am flat ironing my hair I use a combination of the BBD Stretch Growth Creme and the BBD Hair Silkening lotion. Both products are the bomb.com! The Stretch Growth Creme will moisturize your hair and completely stop shedding. It is a leave in Reconstructor. It contains tons of Amino Acids and Protein!
~I part my hair in four sections and use a pea sized amount of both products in each section.
~I only use the Silkening lotion when I am flat ironing.

Daily Moisturizer: I moisturize my hair daily with the BBD Stretch Growth Creme and seal the moisturizer with One n Only Argan Oil.
~I part my hair in four sections and apply a pea sized amount of BBD Stretch first in each section and then I apply the One n Only Argan Oil on top of the BBD Stretch Growth Creme.

Please feel free to comment with questions I'd be happy to help you. I will make a later post on where to find these products.
